Around the rim: Wadleigh forwards Tyrie Orosco and Karim Rowson both plan on attending junior colleges, coach Mike Crump said. Orosco is set to go to Southeast Iowa Community College while Rowson expects to attend Barton Community College (Kan.), joining Cardozo forward Dwayne Brunson. … Cardozo guard Reynaldo (Junior) Walters will sign his National Letter of Intent with Norfolk State once the early signing period begins, he said. … Unhappy with his college options, Edison guard Ede Egharevba is “most likely” going to attend South Kent (Conn.) while teammate Stephen Nwaukoni isn’t quite certain where he will end up. The versatile 6-foot-8 forward has drawn interest from Southern Methodist and Iona, but may go the prep route, too, either at South Kent or Bridgton Academy in Maine.

Cardozo Judges played their final game of a wonderful season at Madison Square Garden in the PSAL Class AA Boys Varsity City Championship. All season Converse has supported the team and playing in the City Championship game wasn’t any different. Converse blessed the #1 PSAL ranked and Queens Borough Champions Cardozo Judges with a prototype basketball sneaker “The Fadeaway”. The simple looking sneaker with black leather/suede and white stitching/sole, had some nice features that made this a unique and excellent basketball sneaker. Official release date hasn’t been determined.

Cardozo played a close game down the stretch but fell short to Boys and Girls High School losing 50-55. Next season The Judges are ranked top three in the PSAL. They’re losing some key guys in Dwayne Brunson, Malcolm Brooks, Ryan Rhoomes and Reynaldo Walters Jr. to college but the talented Judges could make a return with Marquis Barnett, Chris Gayot, Shelton Mickell and incoming Junior Varsity freshmen 6′8 Jermaine Lawrence.

It is very important for basketball players to adopt a proper diet while preparing for or participating in a sport. Here are a few healthy
tips for players who want to continue to play at a high level and take their game to the next level:

-Adopt a training diet that will fuel you workouts: Basketball season are long and intense. A good nutrtion plan can maximize you
strength, speed, power and your all around performance on the court. It’s important to be physically strong and mentally tough throughout
the playoffs as well, so it is key to eat wisely. Be sure to get enough calories, carbohydrate, protein and vitamin and minerals.

-Eat carbohydrate: rich foods or fluids after practice or game: A high-carb beverage or an energy bar is an easy way to refuel your
muscles. Some athletes are “salty” sweaters so the best way to replace sodium is by having a sport drink after training or a game.

-Eat before you train: You can have a liquid meal that should consist of some carbohydrate and protein. A fruit smoothly is another good
option because some players don’t want to have solid food before practice. Good choices include protein or cereal bars, banana, almond and
raisins and sport drinks
